Accountant
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required.
- Five years' prior experience in the accounting/general ledger/accruals/financial reporting areas.
- Must be PC proficient and have strong experience with Microsoft Excel (formulas, functions, pivot tables and charts), PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills required.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work.
- Valid Driver's License, good driving record, proof of auto insurance
- Able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical
Job Details:
The Accountant will be responsible for a variety of daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Accountant is also expected to make recommendations to the finance team for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll; including adjustments, agency payments and benefit contributions and remittances.
- Understand proper tax withholding, garnishment and benefit withholding requirements and procedures
- Assist with compliance surrounding COBRA, unemployment, disability and worker's compensation matters
- Prepare & maintain monthly accrual entries
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
- Assists in the preparation of the annual audit, budget and Medicaid cost reports
- Assists employees by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services provided by department
- Review and reconcile various accounts such as accounts payable, payroll and accrued expenses
- Maintain and record various allocation journal entries
- Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
- All other duties assigned
