PRODUCTION ASSISTANT in ITHACA, New York at Gimme Coffee, Inc.

The Production Assistant (PA) is responsible for ensuring that all Gimme! Coffee orders are fulfilled and shipped in a timely manner. The production environment is extremely fast paced and requires maximum attention to detail. Additionally, the PA serves as a backup delivery driver. Lastly, the PA is responsible for the general maintenance of the warehouse and assisting with inventory management.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7am-4pm, and alternating Friday half days.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Package, seal, and stock coffees for shipment, deliveries, and Production pars

• Pull and pack orders for shipping as needed

• Pull and pack following day’s delivery orders as needed

• Restock shipping materials such as boxes, coffee bags, packing material

• Stock incoming deliveries and maintain orderliness of stock room(s)

• Assist with laundry and coffee bin maintenance as needed

• Restock shipping materials such as boxes, coffee bags, packing material

• Perform routine maintenance tasks as assigned by Production Manager

• Participate in routine deep cleaning of Production facility

• Remove and dispose of trash, recycling, and compost from Production area and public employee spaces

• Regularly sweep, mop, and dust Production area and public employee spaces

• Regularly clean public employee bathrooms

• Load local deliveries, including Gimme! locations and outside wholesale accounts

• Pull dairy and other refrigerated items for Gimme! locations

• Plan efficient delivery routes

• Pick up and deliver baked goods for Gimme! locations daily

• Inventory and order dairy products from vendors

• Responsible for basic care of delivery vehicle

• Maintain organization of Production supply inventory

• Perform weekly count of Production inventory items

• Notify Procurement Specialist of low stock inventory items, as needed

• Upholds the values and mission of Gimme! Coffee

• Follows all policies and procedures set by Gimme! Coffee

• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

• Valid NYS Driver’s License and good driving record

• Excellent computation skills

• Additional language skills a plus, but not required

• Physical activities: climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, sitting, balancing, driving.

• Physical requirements:

  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently.

  • The worker is required to regularly operate a delivery van.

  • The worker is required to regularly operate a hand truck.

  • The worker may occasionally be required to operate a pallet jack.

  • The worker will occasionally be required to taste coffee.

• Working conditions:

• The worker is subject to various inside and outside environmental conditions, exposure to high heat, dusty and/or dirty locations and various cleaning products. The worker will work with vehicles of varying size, up to and including box trucks. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high. The worker is required to occasionally work in high places, and is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

• Tools used: Vehicles, heat sealers, coffee baggers, hand trucks, pallet jacks, ladders, a variety of cleaning tools and supplies (brooms, mops, general cleaning solutions etc…).
