Statement of Learning Outcomes for Federal Work Study Student Employees:

  • Demonstrate effective customer service and professional communication skills when interacting with students, families, and campus visitors.
  • Apply organizational and time-management skills to complete administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive documents and information.
  • Develop workplace readiness skills, including teamwork, responsibility, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
  • Gain experience using office procedures and administrative support practices in a professional higher education environment.

Function of Position:

  • Provide general information about admissions processes, programs, and campus resources.
  • Welcome visitors and direct them to appropriate offices and appointments.
  • Prepare, sort, and distribute mail and admissions materials.
  • Performed clerical tasks such as shredding, scanning, filing, and document preparation.
  • Support admissions staff with projects as needed.
  • Maintained confidentiality of student information in accordance with institutional policies.

This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pack acceptance/inquiry letters in the envelopes, then deliver to the mail room.
  • Pack welcome folders for new students.
  • Stock and organize marketing materials and giveaways
  • Assist at the front desk
  • Clerical duties- shredding, scanning, filing, etc.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing
  • Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
  • Wear the MCC polo shirt and name tag while on duty.
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
  • Communicate with your supervisor in advance regarding absences, schedule changes, or time-off requests.
  • Maintain good standing with MCC's academic and student conduct (judicial) policies.
  • Be currently enrolled and actively attending classes at MCC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
  • Be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Student employees may work up to 20 hours per week.
  • Most work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.
  • Occasional evening and Saturday hours may be available to support special events and Admissions programs.


Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week
