LPN - Medical/Surgical Unit (4C) in Auburn, New York at Auburn Community Hospital

The Medical-Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. The LPN delivers safe, high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit, assisting with treatment plans, administering medications, and supporting patients in recovery from illness or surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, record, and report changes in patients’ conditions.

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

• Assist with diagnostic tests, pre- and post-operative care, and wound care.

• Perform basic nursing procedures such as catheterizations and vital sign monitoring.

• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.

• Educate patients and their families on health maintenance and post-discharge care.

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic health records (EHR).

• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid LPN license in the state of practice.

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS may be preferred.

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical or acute care setting preferred.

• Strong clinical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Work Environment:

• Hospital facility which requires working weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

• Standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to infectious materials may be required.

Salary:

• Hourly rate: $27.89–$34.82, commensurate with experience

• Shift differentials: $7.00 per hour for evening shifts, $8.00 per hour for night shifts, and an additional $1.20 per hour for weekend shifts.

• $1,500 sign-on bonus

Shifts:

Day - 7am-7:30pm

Night - 7p-7a

With rotating weekends and holidays
