Job Description
Senior / Lead Embedded Software Engineer – C++About Evolved Aerospace
Evolved Aerospace builds complete mission systems for defence customers, spanning ISR, maritime surveillance, airborne C-UAS, interceptors and loitering systems.
We are looking for a senior software engineer who can take technical ideas from an early concept through to a working, integrated system.
The RoleThis is not a role for someone who only wants to implement predefined requirements.
We need someone who can take an idea, understand what the system needs to achieve, break the problem down, define the technical approach and then drive it through implementation and integration.
You will remain hands-on with C++, while also taking responsibility for the wider system considerations that shape how the software should be built.
What Youll Be Doing- Develop and maintain C++ software for complex embedded systems.
- Translate high-level technical ideas into practical software requirements and architecture.
- Take ownership from initial concept through implementation, integration and testing.
- Make design decisions around areas such as threading, concurrency, performance and scale.
- Work closely with hardware, systems and other software engineers.
- Support embedded Linux environments, system images and CI integration.
- Provide technical guidance and help drive engineering standards across the team.
You will likely have:
- Around 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong C++ development experience.
- Experience operating at Senior, Lead or Principal Engineer level.
- Strong software architecture and systems thinking.
- Experience taking complex software from concept through to deployment.
- Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency and performance.
- Linux experience.
- Comfortable working independently with loosely defined technical problems.
- Experience with CI/CD and software integration.
- Embedded Linux.
- Yocto.
- Hardware/software integration.
- Real-time systems.
- Robotics, autonomy, aerospace or defence.
- Sensor or mission systems.
A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline would be advantageous.
