Job Description

Payroll Platforms Specialist (Must be in EST or CST)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payroll Platforms Specialist based in the United States.

This role is responsible for administering and optimizing global payroll and HR technology platforms in a complex, multi-country environment.
You will help ensure payroll processes remain accurate, compliant, efficient, and well-controlled across multiple stakeholders and regions.
The position combines hands-on platform configuration, testing, troubleshooting, reporting, and operational support.
You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, HR technology teams, country teams, and external vendors to resolve issues and improve processes.
The role also contributes to platform implementations, go-live readiness, documentation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
It is an opportunity for a payroll technology professional to take ownership of critical systems while helping strengthen employee-pay operations globally.
Success in this position requires strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities independently in a changing environment.

Accountabilities
  • Administer, configure, and optimize global payroll platforms, including payroll, EOR, time tracking, and time-off solutions, ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Act as a key liaison between Payroll, HR, Finance, HR technology teams, local country teams, and external vendors, coordinating issue resolution and maintaining strong operational relationships.
  • Coordinate platform deployments, post-implementation hypercare, business-as-usual transitions, readiness activities, testing, training, and go-live support.
  • Manage support tickets, vendor escalations, defects, configuration changes, and operational risks, driving issues through investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
  • Conduct payroll readiness reviews, data validation, reconciliations, and control checks to support accurate employee pay and compliance requirements.
  • Translate business, payroll, policy, legislative, and compliance requirements into system configurations and process improvements, coordinating testing and validation activities.
  • Support alignment between HRIS and payroll platforms by managing data requirements, reporting, integrations, interfaces, and ongoing data-quality improvements.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, configuration records, training materials, user guides, and knowledge resources to standardize operations and reduce risk.
  • Produce operational reports and monitor key metrics, exceptions, risks, control weaknesses, and corrective actions to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Process payroll vendor invoices, funding requests, and reconciliations while identifying opportunities to automate workflows, strengthen controls, and improve platform performance.
  • Support payroll audits, control reviews, compliance activities, and other projects as required, adapting effectively to evolving priorities.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll operations, payroll systems, HRIS, or payroll technology, preferably within a complex or multi-country environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, controls, deadlines, compliance requirements, and the importance of accurate employee compensation.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating payroll technology implementations, parallel testing, system configuration, user acceptance testing, and post-go-live hypercare.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate payroll, policy, and operational requirements into technical and system requirements.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and investigative skills, with the ability to diagnose data and system issues through to root cause and resolution.
  • Strong organizational and project-management capabilities, including the ability to manage timelines, dependencies, risks, actions, and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working across HRIS and payroll-platform data, with an understanding of integrations and downstream impacts.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Payroll, Finance, country teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and appropriately prioritizing payroll, compliance, and employee-pay risks.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with payroll platforms such as Deel Payroll, Time Off, Time Tracking, or EOR solutions is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise HRIS platforms such as UKG or Workday is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, or comparable reporting and analytical tools is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with APIs, interfaces, SFTP, file feeds, or other HRIS/payroll integration methods is a plus.
  • Experience in a global or matrix organization and exposure to payroll audits, controls, or compliance activities are advantageous.
  • Ability to work primarily at a computer workstation, with occasional standing, walking, and lifting or moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Benefits
  • Annual base salary range of $62,600–$79,850, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Paid holidays and paid time off.
  • Training and professional development opportunities.
  • Dynamic and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Opportunities to contribute to global payroll technology initiatives and process improvements.
  • Flexible work arrangements may be adjusted according to business and client requirements.
