# Director of Excitement/Activity Director
**At Home Senior Living of Thomson**
**Thomson, GA | Full-Time**

About the Role
The **Director of Excitement*
* is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and leading a vibrant activity and engagement program that supports the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our residents.
This position is perfect for a creative, energetic, compassionate individual who loves working with seniors, building relationships, and finding new and exciting ways to make each day special.
What You'll Do
* Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive resident activity and engagement program.
* Get to know residents personally and discover their interests, hobbies, abilities, preferences, and life experiences.
* Create a calendar of engaging activities that includes physical, cognitive, social, recreational, spiritual, and community-based opportunities.
* Encourage residents to participate while respecting individual choices and abilities.
* Coordinate outings, appointments, entertainment, special events, celebrations, and community partnerships.
* Build relationships with families, volunteers, churches, community organizations, entertainers, and local businesses.
* Create a warm, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere throughout the community.
* Prepare the community newsletter and other activity-related communications.
* Maintain accurate activity documentation, records, calendars, care plans, and required reports.
* Participate in resident care plan meetings and collaborate with the care team to support individual resident needs.
* Visit with residents regularly to gather feedback and identify new interests and opportunities.
* Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure residents have meaningful opportunities throughout the day.
* Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers and activity team members as appropriate.
* Monitor and audit activity documentation for accuracy and completeness.
* Maintain activity supplies and submit orders as needed.
* Assist with transportation and/or oversee transportation for resident appointments and outings.
* Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Activities/Engagement Department.
* Participate in surveys, inspections, and other regulatory processes as requested.
* Address resident and family concerns in partnership with the Executive Director.
* Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
* Attend leadership and supervisory meetings as scheduled.
* Perform CPR/emergency procedures as required and permitted by training and certification.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
What We're Looking For
**Education**
* High school diploma or GED preferred.
**Experience**
* Previous experience working with seniors, recreation, activities, life enrichment, or a social program preferred.
* Supervisory experience preferred.
* Experience developing or leading activities for older adults is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach, lift, push, pull, move, and carry items. Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
