Job Description

Intercept Paramedic - Per diem

The ED Paramedic- Intercept will staff the paramedic intercept vehicle and the emergency department.

Promotes and maintains the philosophy, values, standards of performance, and goals of the organization and the department. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team to maintain patient safety and achieve desired outcomes Provides Advanced Life Support level services to the community by responding to 911 calls on the Cheshire Medical Center ALS Paramedic Intercept unit. Initiates State of NH patient treatment protocols as appropriate. Presents professionally. Performs as part of the patient care delivery team in the Emergency Department with responsibilities including: Assessments, Cardiac Monitoring, O2 Therapy, Airway Management, EKGs, Phlebotomy, IV Therapy, Medication Administration, Splinting, Crutch Fitting, Suture set up, Vital Sign measurement and patient discharges. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety/environment of care programs, and infection control standards. Monitors patients' medical conditions and documents and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Completes required paperwork and documents all patient care activities in the patient’s electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy of the record. Functions as part of the code team response for the hospital as assigned. Performs basic and advanced emergency measures including airway management, CPR, ACLS, and PALS. Demonstrates working knowledge of all Emergency Department and ALS equipment. Assists in ordering equipment process, checking and maintaining supplies on the ALS intercept unit and in the ED. Functions as a clinical preceptor for new staff and students. May assist with PIFT/Critical Care inter-facility transfers. Provides excellent customer service to all patients, visitors and employees. Demonstrates effective teamwork, a positive attitude and commitment to support departmental goals. Demonstrates personal accountability within an area of secure medication storage and administration and within NH statewide Paramedic Protocols. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through appropriate resource utilization and documentation. Participates in staff meetings, training and continuing education. Participates in departmental and organization quality improvement initiatives. May be required to perform other duties of lesser, equal or greater levels of responsibility.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of providing 911 service at the Paramedic level, CCP-C Preferred

Specific Skills, Knowledge and/or Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Ability to handle confidential materials with maturity, sensitivity, and discretion. Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills. • Data analysis and interpretation skills are required. Effective team-building and problem-solving skills are required.

Licenses/ Certifications: Nationally Registered Paramedic - NH state license within 30 days of hire. CPR certified on hire; ACLS/PALS within 90 days (American Heart Required) Driver license - valid; Satisfactory Driving Record

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $29.22

Maximum Pay: $45.29
