This role offers the opportunity to support global clinical research operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payments to clinical trial sites and investigators.
The Investigator Payments Lead will manage critical payment processes across the full study lifecycle, from setup through closeout.
You will collaborate with clinical operations, finance, technology, legal, and external vendors to resolve complex payment challenges.
The role requires strong operational ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a global environment.

The Investigator Payments Lead will oversee end-to-end clinical site payment administration, ensuring payment processes are accurate, compliant, and aligned with contractual requirements. The role involves managing systems, vendors, stakeholders, and operational improvements to support successful clinical trial delivery.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of clinical site payment administration, including protocol schedules, per-subject costs, payment triggers, database setup, startup payments, visit-based payments, and invoiceable items.
- Plan and coordinate key activities to ensure payment systems are configured correctly and milestone payments are delivered on schedule.
- Review EDC design and data collection processes to ensure accurate mapping between study activities, budgets, and payment triggers.
- Troubleshoot payment issues and implement corrective actions to minimize delays in site reimbursements.
- Provide guidance on the configuration of site contracts and budgets within payment systems to ensure alignment with contractual terms.
- Oversee vendors supporting investigator payments, ensuring compliance with processes, timely approvals, invoice management, and issue resolution.
- Analyze payment performance, identify root causes of discrepancies, and drive improvements to maintain efficient payment operations.
- Manage complex operational and technology-related payment issues involving budgets, contracts, regulations, taxation, currencies, and site relationships.
- Ensure purchase orders, funding availability, contracts, and work orders are in place to support uninterrupted payment execution.
- Support audit activities related to investigator payments when required.
- Resolve escalated payment concerns from sites and study teams while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Provide recommendations and operational insights to improve investigator payment processes.
The ideal candidate brings experience in clinical operations, payment administration, financial processes, or related areas, with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to work independently in a global, cross-functional environment.
- 2+ years of experience in clinical contracts, budget administration, accounting/finance, and/or clinical project operations.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, protocols, site budgets, and payment terms.
- Experience managing investigator payments, payment processing systems, or related financial workflows is preferred.
- Familiarity with EDC systems, data management processes, and technology-enabled clinical operations is an advantage.
- Ability to understand and interpret clinical site contracts, budgets, and contractual payment requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience resolving complex operational issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including clinical operations, finance, legal, tax, technology, and vendors.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across global teams and cultures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Experience working with a clinical research organization, pharmaceutical sponsor, or similar environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of regional tax, payment regulations, and cross-border financial transactions is a plus.
