Lead the Future of Connected Outdoor Technology

GSM Outdoors is building the next generation of connected outdoor technology, and we're looking for a forward-thinking Director of Product Management – Software & Mobile to lead our growing mobile and software ecosystem.

In this highly visible leadership role, you'll define and execute the product vision for GSM's consumer-facing iOS and Android applications, cloud-connected platforms, and digital services that power wireless cameras, smart optics, and other connected outdoor products.

You'll lead a team of Product Managers and work closely with Engineering, Design, Firmware, Marketing, Customer Experience, and other business teams to deliver intuitive, reliable, and high-performing digital experiences.

Position Summary

The Director of Product Management – Software & Mobile is responsible for establishing and executing the long-term product strategy and roadmap for GSM Outdoors' mobile applications, cloud services, and connected software ecosystem.

This leader will oversee product management across mobile, backend, and platform initiatives while partnering closely with technical and business leaders to translate customer needs and business objectives into compelling, scalable digital products.

The Director will play a critical role in defining GSM's connected-services strategy, establishing product performance metrics, driving continuous improvement, and identifying opportunities across subscriptions, AI-enabled features, remote device management, and other digital experiences.

What You'll Do

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Own and drive the long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap for GSM's mobile applications, cloud services, and connected software ecosystem.
  • Define product strategies that align customer needs, business objectives, technology capabilities, and market opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand GSM's connected product ecosystem and create new sources of customer and business value.
  • Develop strategies around subscription services, digital experiences, AI-driven features, remote device management, and emerging technologies.
  • Establish clear product priorities and communicate strategic direction to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Product Management Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, develop, and scale a team of Product Managers and Product Owners.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, performance expectations, and development plans for the product organization.
  • Build a high-performing product management culture focused on customer outcomes, innovation, accountability, and execution.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on product strategy, prioritization, discovery, requirements, and execution.
  • Coordinate priorities across mobile, backend, platform, and connected-device initiatives.

Mobile & Software Product Development

  • Oversee the development and evolution of consumer-facing iOS and Android applications.
  • Partner closely with Engineering leadership across iOS, Android, cloud infrastructure, QA, DevOps, and Firmware.
  • Translate customer needs, business requirements, and market opportunities into clear product requirements, prioritized backlogs, and measurable execution plans.
  • Ensure product teams maintain a strong balance between customer experience, technical feasibility, quality, speed to market, and business outcomes.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to ensure products deliver intuitive, reliable, and high-performing user experiences.
  • Help establish product development standards and best practices across the organization.

Connected Products & Technology

  • Partner with Engineering and Firmware teams to deliver seamless experiences between GSM's physical products and digital ecosystem.
  • Support the development of software experiences connected to wireless cameras, smart optics, and other connected outdoor products.
  • Help define the product strategy for IoT and connected-device capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve remote device management, connectivity, customer engagement, and product functionality.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to incorporate AI and other advanced capabilities into GSM's connected product ecosystem.

Product Analytics & Performance

  • Establish and monitor product KPIs, including retention, engagement, feature adoption, subscription conversion, crash-free performance, and App Store/Google Play ratings.
  • Leverage analytics and customer insights to understand product performance and user behavior.
  • Establish feedback loops to continuously gather and incorporate customer feedback into product strategy.
  • Use experimentation and data-driven analysis to optimize product experiences and business outcomes.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate insights into actionable product decisions.

Product Launches & Customer Experience

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Experience teams to plan and execute successful product launches.
  • Support customer onboarding, activation, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • Partner on App Store and Google Play optimization initiatives.
  • Support the development and execution of in-app messaging and other direct customer communication strategies.
  • Ensure product launches are supported by effective customer education, communications, and engagement strategies.

Privacy, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure products are developed and operated in accordance with applicable privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Legal, IT, and other stakeholders to support compliance with regulations and platform requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, and applicable Apple and Google platform policies.
  • Promote practices that protect customer data and maintain trust across GSM's digital ecosystem.
  • Ensure privacy and security considerations are incorporated into product planning and development.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic bridge between Product Management, Engineering, Design, Firmware, Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, and executive leadership.
  • Align stakeholders around product priorities, timelines, customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Communicate product strategy, performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Influence decisions across the organization without relying solely on direct authority.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive Product Management experience in consumer mobile applications, software platforms, SaaS, or connected-device ecosystems.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing Product Managers or cross-functional product teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching, scaling, and managing high-quality iOS and Android applications.
  • Demonstrated success driving product adoption, engagement, retention, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong technical fluency across mobile development ecosystems, APIs, cloud services, analytics platforms, and Agile product development.
  • Experience translating customer needs and business objectives into product strategies, roadmaps, requirements, and execution plans.
  • Strong understanding of product analytics, experimentation, KPIs, and data-driven product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer experience, technical complexity, business priorities, and financial outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to establish vision while maintaining strong execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing products connected to hardware, IoT, smart home, wearables, outdoor technology, or other connected-device ecosystems.
  • Experience with subscription-based digital products or SaaS business models.
  • Experience working with AI-driven products or services.
  • Experience with remote device management platforms.
  • Experience working with consumer electronics or connected consumer products.
  • Experience with App Store and Google Play optimization.
  • Passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, scouting, or outdoor recreation.
