Job Description

Energy Supply Data Scientist (I&II)
location: PORTLAND, OR, US, 97232
Company: PacifiCorp
POWER YOUR GREATNESS

PacifiCorp is seeking customer-centric candidates to grow and sustain our commitment to a culture of customer service excellence, environmental sustainability, inclusion and belonging.

General Purpose

PacifiCorp serves 2.1 million customers across six western states and, as of May 1, 2026, became the first participant in the Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) alongside the California ISO. Committing generation and scheduling transmission a day in advance across an optimized regional footprint produces operational and market data at a volume and granularity beyond what conventional analysis can support. This position exists to convert that data into better decisions about how PacifiCorp bids, commits its generation fleet, schedules transmission, and manages its position between the day-ahead and real-time markets.

The incumbent provides technical support on complex and business-critical projects across Energy Supply Management, working with loads and weather, battery storage, renewable, and thermal generation performance, transmission availability and congestion, market prices, bids and settlements. The impact of the role is measured in the quality of decisions it improves: explaining and reducing deviations between day-ahead positions and real-time outcomes, strengthening load and generation forecasts, quantifying the cost of resource and transmission choices, and delivering production-grade analytics that generation operators, traders and planners rely on daily. Better information at these decision points lowers net power costs for customers, supports reliable operations, and substantiates PacifiCorp’s positions in regulatory and market policy forums.

This position is available at multiple levels. Applicants will be considered for the level that best matches their education and experience.
