Job Description

Staff IT Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff IT Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the technical future of enterprise device infrastructure at significant scale.
You will lead the evolution from traditional endpoint management toward a DevOps and GitOps-based operating model.
The position combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering, automation, security, and incident response.
You will help modernize the tools and processes supporting approximately 2,000 endpoints across macOS and Windows environments.
A key focus will be responsibly integrating AI and agentic workflows into IT operations while maintaining strong security and human oversight.
You will collaborate across IT, Security, and Product teams while mentoring engineers and raising the technical capabilities of the wider team.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and turning ambitious technical strategies into reality.

Accountabilities
  • Own the technical direction and roadmap for Device Infrastructure Services, including the tooling, standards, and systems supporting approximately 2,000 endpoints.
  • Lead the transition toward a DevOps and GitOps operating model based on configuration-as-code, version control, code review, and CI/CD rather than manual console-based changes.
  • Drive adoption of modern infrastructure practices across the IT organization and establish scalable standards for endpoint management.
  • Develop device health metrics, remediation standards, and operational practices covering security, performance, reliability, and employee experience.
  • Lead the adoption of responsible agentic AI across device operations, establishing appropriate guardrails for autonomous actions and human review.
  • Act as the final escalation point for high-severity endpoint incidents, including deep machine-level diagnosis and troubleshooting across macOS and Windows.
  • Build production-quality automation and infrastructure solutions while reviewing and improving engineering work across the team.
  • Partner with IT, Security, and Product teams to develop custom technical solutions and deliver cross-functional initiatives.
  • Evaluate and pilot new technologies and tooling, including endpoint management platforms and patch management solutions.
  • Lead build-versus-buy assessments and make recommendations based on technical requirements, scalability, security, and operational impact.
  • Advise product teams on enterprise device deployment considerations and contribute to Customer Zero initiatives by testing and validating products internally.
  • Support the technical planning required to safely manage major operating system releases and changes across the organization.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, promote strong engineering practices, and help the team grow its technical capabilities.
  • Balance long-term technical strategy with hands-on execution and evolving business priorities.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in IT and enterprise endpoint management, including at least 2 years operating at a senior or staff individual contributor level.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing enterprise endpoints using GitOps or similar infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise endpoint management combined with deep operating system-level expertise.
  • Ability to identify patterns across large endpoint fleets and develop durable fixes that prevent recurring issues.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve or accelerate IT operations, combined with sound judgment around appropriate use cases and associated risks.
  • Proven ability to define, communicate, and execute technical roadmaps while balancing long-term strategy with near-term delivery.
  • Strong scripting and infrastructure-as-code capabilities, including Bash, Python, and Terraform.
  • Ability to independently write production-quality automation and critically review the code and solutions developed by others.
  • Deep understanding of endpoint security fundamentals, including encryption, patch and vulnerability management, EDR, least-privilege enforcement, and security compliance.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable standards.
  • Strong technical leadership, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to lead teams through significant technological and operational change.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and adapting priorities as organizational needs evolve.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to complex infrastructure challenges.

Benefits

  • Annual U.S. base salary of $143,000–$207,000.
  • Equity grant and, where applicable, participation in incentive programs.
  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing benefits, including health and dental coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement matching program.
  • Generous paid time off policy.
  • Maternity and parental leave top-up programs.
  • Fully remote, remote-first work environment for employees based in their home country.
  • Paid volunteer days and community-focused initiatives.
  • Peer-to-peer recognition program.
  • Free access to the company’s password management product.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, technical leadership, and mentorship.
  • Opportunity to influence infrastructure strategy across a large enterprise endpoint environment.
  • Exposure to DevOps, GitOps, AI-assisted operations, agentic workflows, and modern endpoint security practices.
  • Travel opportunities for team meetings, department-wide offsites, and relevant customer or industry events.
  • Inclusive and collaborative culture emphasizing transparency, feedback, continuous improvement, and people-first leadership.
  • Accommodation support is available throughout the recruitment process for candidates who require it.
