REMCAN Projects LP is hiring Railway Equipment Operators for projects across Canada.
Founded in 2007, REMCAN is a leading North American railway contractor providing track maintenance, construction, and related services to railway owners and operators, including Class 1 railways. With locations across Canada, our crews work on projects ranging from routine track maintenance to major construction projects and emergency repairs.

What We're Looking For:
We're looking for experienced operators who are dependable, safety-focused, and ready to work.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Railway Equipment Operator, you'll be part of our Track Maintenance team, working alongside labourers, operators, welders, and foremen to keep Canada's rail network safe and moving. Depending on your experience and qualifications, you may operate equipment such as:
- Spikers
- Tie cranes
- Speed swings
- Ballast regulators
- Excavators
- Backhoes
- Kribbers
- Adzers
- Tripp machines
- Glue machines
- Tampers
Your day-to-day work may include:
- Operating rail-bound equipment to build, maintain, and repair railway track
- Replacing and repairing rails, ties, and other track components
- Performing equipment inspections and pre-trip inspections
- Maintaining equipment and completing basic repairs as required
- Using hand tools for track maintenance and repairs
- Supporting general track construction and maintenance activities
- Performing moderate to heavy physical labour when required
- Responding to emergency repairs and track outages
- Working safety and following REMCAN and railway safety procedures
- Using hand tools for track maintenance and repairs
No two projects are exactly the same. One week you could be working on a major track project, and the next you could be responding to an emergency repair.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for experienced operators who are dependable, safety-focused, and ready to work.
You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience operating equipment mentioned above
- Valid Class 5 or Class G driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to provide a 3-year driver's abstract
- Ability to pass eRailSafe Canada workforce compliance requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including alcohol and drug screening
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and extended shifts as required
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
- Willingness to travel and work at remote locations across Canada
- Reliable personal transportation
