Job Description

Education

Possess a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in science. Have at least 4 years of experience in cell therapy.

Summary Statement

The Cell Therapy Specialist demonstrates meticulous precision and attention to detail, as well as the ability to adapt to a flexible, occasionally unpredictable work schedule. This role requires specialized training, proficiency in cell processing in ISO 7 cleanrooms, knowledge of GMP production, and the ability to conduct flow cytometry testing. Additionally, knowledge of cryopreservation and adherence to documentation standards in accordance with GMP/GDP guidelines are essential. The Cell Therapy Specialist will report to the Cell Processing Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to GMP/GDP/GTP guidelines.
  • Perform isolation of HSCs, NK, and T-cells by using CliniMACS Prodigy (RUO and GMP).
  • Perform cell processing in GMP suites (ISO 7)
  • Perform flow cytometry testing
  • Participate in assay development studies, such as validations and tech transfers
  • Use aseptic techniques while performing cell processing procedures.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, comprehensive, and maintained.
  • Label required cellular samples and maintain accurate and complete result reports, batch records, and cryopreservation records.
  • Work with the QA department on the product release process
  • Practice proper safety techniques and report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Other duties and procedures assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience in cGMP and cGTP requirements is highly preferred
  • Experience with cell therapy products
  • Experience with flow cytometry testing
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques required for cellular therapy product handling and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of the use of liquid nitrogen to provide a safe, compliant, and cost-effective cryogenic environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform standard data analysis and calculations.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams.
  • Time management skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedules, working hours, and procedures. The position may require extended hours periodically.
  • Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
  • Travel as necessary to attend relevant industry conferences to fulfill continuing education requirements

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

This position involves working in a laboratory, walking, standing, stooping, lifting, and using tools that require high dexterity—occasionally lifting objects over 20 pounds. Travel may also be necessary exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, materials, needle sticks, blood, and body fluids.
