Field Service Technician Senior - Automotive

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Service Technician Senior - Automotive based in United States.

This role provides advanced on-site and remote technical support for automotive customers and service teams across the Southeast region. You will diagnose complex vehicle issues, support repairs, and deliver hands-on technical training to service personnel. The position combines field service expertise with engineering collaboration, technical documentation, and customer relationship management. You will work independently while partnering with engineering, customer support, technical publications, and marketing teams to improve products and service resources. The role is well suited to an experienced automotive technician who enjoys solving challenging problems and sharing technical knowledge. This position is remote and involves significant travel, with up to 75% travel required throughout the assigned region.

Accountabilities
  • Provide on-site technical support to customer locations and service centers across the United States and Canada, diagnosing and repairing vehicles and delivering technician training.
  • Provide remote technical and customer support through phone and email, including warranty case assistance, remote vehicle diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, escalated service concerns, and challenging vehicle diagnostic problems.
  • Support engineering initiatives by gathering vehicle and product information, collecting images, reviewing new products, and collecting emissions-related data.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical publications, and marketing teams to create and review installation manuals, service documentation, technical materials, and marketing content.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and service technicians to understand issues, explain solutions, and ensure effective resolution.
  • Coordinate pre-trip activities, including scheduling travel, organizing customer visits, and preparing for on-site assignments.
  • Complete post-trip activities, including detailed service reports, documentation, and expense reports.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to junior technicians and contribute to their professional development.
  • Represent the organization professionally in customer and service environments while maintaining strong standards of communication and technical service.
  • Stay current with relevant automotive technologies, diagnostic practices, products, and service procedures.
  • Work independently while effectively coordinating with internal technical and business teams.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in automotive technology, engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of automotive mechanic or technician experience, or an associate degree combined with at least 4 years of relevant automotive technician or mechanic experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering classroom instruction, technical presentations, and hands-on training.
  • Experience working with liquid propane gas (LPG) and/or compressed or liquefied natural gas (CNG/LNG).
  • Strong ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair OBD-II engine and drivability concerns.
  • Proficiency using OBD diagnostic scan tools and interpreting diagnostic information.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical schematics and apply structured troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and technicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical data and provide effective instruction in a training environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Strong customer-service mindset, professionalism, organization, and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Southeast United States, with up to 75% travel required.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, when business needs require.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining reliable communication and documentation practices.
