Description: Cook/Culinary Aide

Colfax Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia | Full-Time

This position is a part of the SEIU 775 Union.

In this role, you will prepare, portion, and serve food according to established menus and dietary requirements while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer service. What You'll Do
  • Prepare and serve meals for residents, staff, and special events following planned menus and therapeutic diet requirements.
  • Prepare alternative menu items to accommodate resident preferences and dietary needs.
  • Follow standardized recipes and approved food preparation procedures.
  • Ensure meals are attractive, appetizing, and served at the proper temperature.
  • Maintain accurate food, refrigeration, freezer, sanitizer, and temperature logs.
  • Use proper portion control techniques and food handling practices.
  • Label, date, and store food items according to regulatory and facility standards.
  • Deliver meals and snacks according to established schedules.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Practice infection control procedures and utilize protective equipment as needed.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and monitoring inventory and supplies.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Work cooperatively with team members across all departments.
  • Provide friendly, respectful service to residents, families, and visitors.
  • Attend training and in-service education programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Manager.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Food Handler's Permit (if required by state regulations).
Experience
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, long-term care, or senior living settings is a plus.
  • Quantity food production experience preferred.

Requirements:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licenses/Certification

ServSafe Food Safety Certification required.

Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations.

Experience

Six months’ experience in large quantity food preparation. Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred.

Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred.

NOTE: Federal Child Labor Laws do not permit employees younger than 18 years of age to work with or repair, adjust, or clean power-driven machines such as meat slicers and commercial mixers. Therefore, individuals must be at least 18 years of age to be employed in this position.

state’s specific background check requirements prior to contact with patients/residents.
