About the Role:
Come join the Tailwind team at our Warped Wing located inside of the DAY airport! The Kitchen Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen to ensure efficient food production and exceptional quality standards. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of kitchen activities, including supervising staff, maintaining food safety protocols, and controlling food costs to maximize profitability. The Kitchen Manager collaborates closely with the executive chef and other team members to develop and implement menu plans that meet customer expectations and align with business goals. Additionally, this role ensures compliance with sanitation regulations and promotes a safe, organized, and productive work environment. Ultimately, the Kitchen Manager drives operational excellence to deliver a superior dining experience while maintaining cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in kitchen management or a similar supervisory role within the food service industry
- Strong knowledge of meat handling, smoker usage, and food safety regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage food costs and inventory effectively
- Familiarity with sanitation standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate kitchen staff
- Experience with operating a smoker
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution
- Experience working alongside an executive chef in menu planning and food production
- Certification in food safety management (e.g., ServSafe Manager)
- Previous experience in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen environment
- Proficiency with kitchen management software and inventory control systems
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Manage and train kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation
- Oversee meat handling and smoker usage to ensure proper techniques and food safety compliance
- Develop and implement menu plans in collaboration with the executive chef to optimize food production and customer satisfaction
- Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and waste to achieve budgetary targets
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all kitchen activities
- Maintain equipment and kitchen cleanliness to comply with health and safety guidelines
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source quality ingredients at competitive prices
- Prepare reports on kitchen performance, including food costs, labor, and inventory management
- Efficiently manage scheduling needs based upon business needs
