The Park Ranger Division is committed to providing the community with opportunities to access the natural outdoor environment for the purpose of learning, teaching and recreation. It is our mission to inspire individuals to be advocates for sustainability, conservation and healthy lifestyles. Acting as a source of public information about the more than 40 City parks and trail network, park rangers interpret and enforce park rules and regulations for visitors, assist with various events and programs and ensure safety for park patrons.
This is the entry level class in the Park and Trail Ranger series. Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of skill level as positions allocated to the Lead Parks and Trails Ranger positions. Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees. The immediate supervisor or task leader may, at times, provide close and constant supervision. Advancement to the Lead Park and Trail Ranger level is based on demonstrated proficiency in performing the assigned functions and is at the discretion of supervisory and/or management staff.
Part-Time positions are limited to working no more than an average of 20 hours per week and no more than 999 hours per fiscal year. Specific hours for each position are determined per department and per budgetary approval. This position will require morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours.
