VP, Commercial Loan Officer in Oklahoma City, Texas at Bankers Bank

JOB SUMMARY:

Prospect, develop, and maintain strong client relationships while growing and managing a commercial loan portfolio in alignment with the Bank’s credit risk appetite. This role is responsible for originating and participating in commercial loans, conducting thorough credit analysis, and actively managing portfolio quality through ongoing monitoring, annual reviews, and proactive risk management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prospects, develops, and maintains strong and trusting client relationships through customer calls, attendance at banking events, bank visits, and other business development activities
• Originates direct commercial loans and manages the purchase and sale of loan participations with bank lenders
• Grows the loan portfolio at a pace consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite, including both loan participations and direct originations
• Manages loan portfolios to include annual reviews, exception tracking, collections, advances, and ongoing monitoring of borrower performance
• Analyzes and prices loans appropriate to the level of risk accepted; monitors customer financial performance on a continuing basis
• Ensures seamless internal communication among teammates so that customers experience consistent, coordinated service; escalates loan deterioration concerns to appropriate team members promptly
• Prepares detailed credit memoranda and presents them to the EVP/CLO, President/CEO, and loan committee
• Maintains compliance with all applicable banking regulations, credit policies, and internal procedures
• Participates in community and industry events to represent the Bank and develop new business prospects
• Other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM SKILLS:

• Accuracy and detail oriented with strong analytical and credit underwriting ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to learn quickly, meet strict deadlines, and adhere to policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and instructions
• Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Solid problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; experience with loan origination or portfolio management systems preferred
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with diverse personalities
• Ability to calculate and interpret financial figures including interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages
• Ability to write reports, credit memoranda, business correspondence, and procedure documentation
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
• Strong knowledge of commercial credit structures, loan documentation, and banking regulations
• Ability to travel as needed for business development and client relationship management
• Flexibility with schedule to accommodate client and business needs

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred; High School diploma or GED required
• Completion of a formal credit training program or equivalent coursework preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of commercial lending or relevant banking experience required
• Demonstrated experience in credit analysis, loan underwriting, and portfolio management required
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills required
• Supervisory and leadership experience preferred
