Forward Deployed Engineer - Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer - Software Engineer based in Canada.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, AI, and customer-facing technical delivery.
You will be embedded with strategic customers, taking ownership of complex projects from initial concept through production implementation.
The role combines hands-on software development with technical consulting, architecture, and problem-solving.
You will collaborate directly with customer engineers and executive stakeholders to design solutions tailored to their most important needs.
Using strong coding and systems expertise, you will build integrations and turn emerging AI capabilities into practical, high-impact applications.
The environment is fast-paced, highly autonomous, and focused on experimentation, technical excellence, and measurable customer outcomes.
It is an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and wants significant ownership over impactful projects.

Accountabilities
  • Own the end-to-end execution of major technical projects for strategic customers, taking responsibility from solution design and planning through implementation and delivery.
  • Work directly with customer engineering teams and executive stakeholders to understand technical requirements, identify opportunities, and ensure effective adoption of AI technologies.
  • Design tailored technical architectures and product solutions that address complex customer challenges and business objectives.
  • Build production-ready software, integrations, and applications using strong engineering practices and hands-on coding expertise.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to ambiguous technical challenges, balancing customer requirements, technical feasibility, scalability, and long-term value.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations and communicate solution approaches effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering and product teams to provide customer insights and help push the boundaries of AI-powered solutions.
  • Take a high degree of ownership in a high-velocity environment, contributing wherever needed to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience working directly with customers, clients, or stakeholders in a technical capacity; experience gained through professional work, student organizations, or side projects can be relevant.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and solid software engineering fundamentals, including software development, architecture, system design, and API integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and integrate software solutions and understand how different technical components work together.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex technical concepts clearly for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, using structured reasoning to identify effective solutions to challenging and ambiguous problems.
  • Comfortable working closely with customers and adapting technical solutions to evolving requirements and real-world constraints.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, work autonomously, move quickly, and maintain a high standard of technical quality.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with enthusiasm for applying them to practical customer problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed, remote environment.
