Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused Associate Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing customer invoicing, cash applications, collections, account reconciliations, and maintaining accurate accounts receivable records. In addition, the Associate Accountant will assist with inventory management, payroll reconciliations, payroll tax, sales tax compliance, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
•Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
•Apply customer payments and reconcile cash receipts.
•Monitor outstanding accounts and proactively manage collection activities.
•Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer inquiries.
•Reconcile accounts receivable balances and prepare aging reports.
•Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation.
•Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to resolve account issues.
•Reconcile payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
•Assist with inventory reconciliations and inventory-related accounting activities.
•Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
•Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
•Assist with sales tax filings and compliance requirements.
•Support audit requests and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
•Maintain knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
•Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
•Ability to prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
•Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
•Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Education and Experience
Required
•Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•Minimum of two years of accounting, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping experience.
Preferred
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•Experience with credit and collections processes.
•Experience in distribution, manufacturing, service, or construction-related industries.
•Experience with Sage 100 or similar ERP systems.
•Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
•Experience with payroll processing and sales tax reporting.
Physical Requirements
•Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
•Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
