Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory and Shipping Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role supports daily shipping and logistics operations, with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance and business needs. This position Manages and oversees all aspects of shipping, receiving, inventory of all raw materials and finished goods to and from Pacific Netting Products, Inc. with the goal of achieving efficient materials management, cost controls, accurate inventory and timely shipments and deliveries.

Inventory Management:

  • Receive and inspect all raw materials, consumables, and supplies delivered to PNP, ensuring compliance and consistency with purchase order requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials, finished goods, consumables, and supplies in the warehouses and within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) database (i.e., SAP).
  • Distribute raw materials and finished goods between HDPE and netting warehouses.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Work with the purchasing team to manage stock levels, identify inventory needs, place orders, and process returns in a timely manner.
  • Track and record product movements, ensuring proper storage and rotation of stock (FIFO/LIFO).
  • Monitor product expiration dates to ensure products are used or sold before expiry.
  • Prepare inventory reports and assist in inventory audits.

Shipping and Logistics:

  • Coordinate all aspects of shipping and logistics, including scheduling, rescheduling, securing insurance assurances, negotiating rates, working with customs brokers and customers.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping labels.
  • Liaise with shipping carriers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Track shipments and resolve issues related to delays or damaged goods.
  • Coordinate with PNP sales representatives and provide the estimating team with shipping cost information.
  • Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to address special shipping requests or changes promptly.

Warehouse Operations:

  • Oversee the organization of warehouse space to maximize efficiency and streamline product retrieval.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks, ensuring raw goods and finished products are handled safely and with care.
  • Ensure the warehouse complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and storage areas.

COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION

  • Collaborate with departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Project Management, Finance, and Customer Service) to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with HDPE and netting warehouse managers to track raw materials and finished goods through the manufacturing processes.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service by addressing shipping inquiries and providing tracking information in a timely manner.
  • Update the Senior Director of Operations on inventory trends, issues, and opportunities for improving inventory or shipping processes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and implementing inventory control procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required to support PNP’s overall goals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory management and shipping coordination.
  • Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment, with reasonable accommodation provided as needed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in the netting and HDPE manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of ERP, CRM (Customer Relationship Management), shipping software, and logistics tools.
  • Forklift and telehandler certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
