Senior Tax Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic finance organization at the heart of a fast-growing, global marketplace business. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate and compliant indirect tax operations across multiple U.S. jurisdictions, directly supporting the company’s ability to scale efficiently. The position blends hands-on tax accounting work with cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Product, and Operations teams. You will contribute to month-end close processes, tax reconciliations, audits, and compliance activities that safeguard financial integrity. The environment is fast-paced and data-driven, requiring strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. Your work will also influence how new products and business initiatives are structured from a tax perspective, reducing risk and improving operational efficiency.

Accountabilities:
  • Support the preparation of indirect tax filings and supporting workpapers for U.S. sales and use tax compliance, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain sales and use tax account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy across month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Assist with financial reporting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for tax-related accounts.
  • Manage and support tax audits, notices, and inquiries by gathering documentation, performing analysis, and coordinating timely responses.
  • Maintain accurate tax records, including filings, audit documentation, jurisdictional correspondence, and compliance trackers.
  • Monitor changes in state and local tax legislation, assess impact, and support implementation of required updates.
  • Research indirect tax implications for new products, services, and business initiatives, providing recommendations to reduce tax exposure and ensure compliance.
  • Partner cross-functionally to embed tax requirements into operational and product workflows.
  • Support tax system testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT), issue tracking, and validation of tax engine outputs.
  • Identify discrepancies in tax calculations through data analysis and reconciliation, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve root causes.
  • Assist with registrations, compliance requirements, special projects, and ad hoc tax and finance requests.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in tax, accounting, or finance roles, preferably within a corporate environment; public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. multi-state sales and use tax regulations and indirect tax compliance processes.
  • Hands-on experience with tax reconciliations, workpapers, and month-end or close-cycle accounting support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets and transaction-level analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to research complex tax issues and translate findings into actionable business guidance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with tax technology platforms such as Avalara is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and CPA certification are preferred advantages.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of $90,000 – $100,000 annually (based on location and experience)
  • Eligibility for discretionary annual bonus
  • Equity compensation opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plan (401k)
  • Paid parental leave benefits
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA)
  • Disability and life insurance coverage
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Flexible, collaborative, and dynamic work environment
  • Additional wellness and employee support programs.
