This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineer, Provisioning based in Canada.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability and performance of large-scale broadband and network provisioning systems that support residential and business connectivity services. You will design, deploy, maintain, and optimize carrier-grade provisioning and customer premises equipment (CPE) activation platforms that underpin critical internet, voice, and data services. Operating within a highly technical environment, you will work across systems engineering, network operations, and application administration to ensure seamless service delivery. The role requires deep expertise in telecom provisioning environments, strong troubleshooting capability, and comfort working with complex distributed systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and vendor teams to support system stability, service evolution, and new product deployment. This is a hands-on, high-impact engineering position ideal for someone passionate about network infrastructure and large-scale systems reliability.
You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of provisioning and CPE activation systems that support broadband services across regional networks. The role spans system engineering, operational support, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure stable and efficient service delivery.
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain provisioning platforms, CPE activation systems, and supporting operating systems and applications.
- Monitor and manage end-to-end provisioning environments including DOCSIS, Incognito systems, Cisco CNR/PNR, and related service platforms.
- Support IP address management, DHCP/DNS/TFTP services, and regional HSD provisioning infrastructure.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and on-call support for production incidents impacting provisioning and service activation.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and documenting system configurations, service changes, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering, TechOps, vendors, and third-party partners to resolve complex technical issues and support system integration.
- Participate in testing and deployment of new products, services, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Contribute to project planning, including timelines, cost estimation, and technical feasibility analysis.
This role requires strong technical expertise in telecom or cable provisioning environments, combined with deep knowledge of network systems, protocols, and troubleshooting tools. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-critical engineering environment.
- 5+ years of experience in cable/MSO, telecom, or similar network infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of DOCSIS, DHCP, DNS, TFTP, IP networking, and cable broadband technologies.
- Hands-on experience with provisioning systems such as Incognito, Cisco CNR/PNR, CMTS, or vCMTS environments.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills and familiarity with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience with troubleshooting tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, netstat, traceroute, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN architectures, TCP/IP, and network infrastructure components (switches, firewalls, load balancers).
- Familiarity with databases and platforms such as MySQL, MongoDB, or MariaDB is an asset.
- Experience in Agile environments and working with distributed engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations and support off-hours incident resolution.
