Job Overview:
The Physical Therapist is responsible for the examination, assessment, care planning, and performance of physical therapy treatments for the inpatient population. You will provide interventions that restore bodily functions and prevent disability following injury or disease while delegating and monitoring responsibilities assigned to support staff and students. This role is essential in driving performance improvement activities and ensuring the highest standard of patient care through evidence-based practice.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensed Physical Therapist in New Jersey (Must have license upon hire)
- Degree from a CAPTE approved school (Doctoral or Masters)
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
- Proficiency in regulatory requirements and compliance with hospital policies
Preferred:
- 1 year or more of experience in an inpatient setting
Scheduling Requirements
- Part-Time – 16 hours/wk

Essential Functions:
- Performs functional assessments and evaluations for the inpatient population within the appropriate time frame.
- Identifies and develops realistic short-term and long-term goals based on individualized patient needs and capabilities.
- Develops and modifies individualized plans of care as needed to meet functional needs and clinical progress.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary plan of care and teaching process, communicating rehab needs to the healthcare team.
- Directly supervises the clinical work of Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA), Rehab Aides, and students.
- Documents all assessments, goals, and progress in compliance with departmental documentation policies.
- Identifies patient educational needs and provides appropriate education to patients and families.
- Applies proper body mechanics to all aspects of rehab services and complies with national patient safety goals.
- Collaborates with the Supervisor to schedule patient caseloads and ensures compliance with the billing process.
- Participates in mandatory staff education programs and performance improvement activities.
