Position Summary

The Caregiver provides compassionate, personalized support to residents while promoting their independence, dignity, comfort, and overall well-being. This position assists residents with their daily needs while building meaningful relationships based on trust, respect, and genuine care.

The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, and passionate about working with older adults while providing an exceptional resident experience.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, transferring, and mobility in accordance with individualized service plans.
  • Observe residents and promptly report changes in physical, emotional, behavioral, or social condition to the appropriate nursing team member.
  • Complete required resident documentation accurately and in accordance with community policies and procedures.
  • Respond promptly to resident call systems, pendants, call lights, and pull cords while providing attentive and courteous service.
  • Make routine rounds to support resident safety, comfort, and overall well-being.
  • Assist with dining services as needed, including serving meals, cutting food, providing encouragement and cueing, and assisting residents with eating when appropriate.
  • Support life enrichment programs by assisting residents to and from activities, encouraging participation, and helping with community and social events.
  • Assist with light housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed to maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe resident environment.
  • Follow established infection prevention and control practices, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfection, and appropriate waste disposal.
  • Maintain a safe resident environment and promptly report potential safety concerns.
  • Assist with welcoming and supporting new residents during the move-in and transition process.
  • Provide appropriate emergency assistance within the scope of the position and according to community procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure resident needs are addressed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in resident service plan meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support residents and the overall operation of the community.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous caregiving, senior living, assisted living, memory care, or related experience preferred.
  • Compassionate and respectful approach to working with older adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable, professional, and attentive to resident needs.
  • Must maintain a flexible schedule based on community needs, including availability to work weekends and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and assist residents with mobility and transfers as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, twist, push, and pull while assisting residents and completing assigned duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Must be able to perform the physical responsibilities associated with providing direct resident care safely and effectively.
