Job Description
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading all inbound logistics, inventory control, and material flow operations within a fast-paced manufacturing facility. This role ensures that raw materials and components are received accurately, inspected for quality, and staged efficiently to meet production demands. Provides direction to ensure that all activities are undertaken with adherence to all safety procedures.
Essential Functions

Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop the receiving team, including receiving clerks and material handlers.
• Establish clear expectations regarding safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.
• Conduct performance evaluations, cross-training, and morning shift briefings.
• Demonstrate and implement effective LEAN concepts as it applies to the Receiving and Warehouse areas.
Receiving & Material Flow Operations
• Manage dock activity, transportation schedules, and carrier coordination to support the manufacturing schedule.
• Inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders to verify identity, count, and condition of goods.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, damages, and shortages with freight carriers and suppliers.
• Ensure proper routing and staging of raw materials to the production floor.
Inventory Control & System Management
• Maintain 100% inventory accuracy by utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Oversee transaction oversight, cycle counts, and proper lot tracking.
• Manage documentation including Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs), bills of lading, and receiving logs.
Safety & Compliance
• Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct routine safety audits, equipment inspections (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks), and facility housekeeping reviews.
Competencies
• Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, delegate, follow up, provide constructive feedback and coaching.
• Demonstrated team skills in leading and participating in cross functional teams.
• Ability to proactively work with and collaborate cross functionally with other departments.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels and departments of the business.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of personal accountability.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Possess a strong aptitude for managing multiple tasks and assignments with a sense of urgency.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will directly supervise the receiving team. The position will also act as a backup to the Warehouse Manager in their absence supervising the Warehouse Team.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to varying temperatures. The environment is an active plant with continuous noises from equipment inside the plant.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling. The employee must be able to reach above your head and lift and or move items up to 35 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
• Education: High school diploma is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of Receiving experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent cross-functional communication.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts is desirable.
