Job Description
Our company is looking for a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator with experience in relationship management to assist clients and provide excellent support throughout the home-buying process. Our ideal Mortgage Loan Originator keeps up with mortgage loan trends and developments and is well-connected to other financial institutions, lenders, and advisors. In this role, your ultimate goal is to help clients realize and meet their financial goals by responsibly advising them throughout the mortgage loan process, from application to closing. You will be a great fit if you can swiftly identify customer needs, meet loan production goals, and work to ensure customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Meet with mortgage loan borrowers on the phone and in person, advising and guiding them throughout the entire loan process
- Review financial information from all relevant parties
- Collect appropriate documentation from each applicant and deliver loan package in the time frames set by management.
- Originate and evaluate mortgage loans according to company guidelines and standards
- Submit and monitor the status of applications
- Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
- Communicate with branches and/or applicants of providing timely updates and progress reports.
- Maintain good relationships with clients by keeping them informed
- Interact with realtors, appraisers, and sales agents as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- High school diploma or equivalent with one to two years college preferred
- State licensure. This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS web site (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.
- Track record of successfully originating various kinds of mortgage loans, including FHA loans and VA loans, as well as reverse mortgages (preferred)
- Experience in mortgage banking, financial advising, or as a mortgage consultant
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and sales skills
- Knowledge of loan origination and servicing software
- Able to maintain compliance with financial and lending practices
- Minimum five years experience in a full-service financial institution or other retail customer service profession with exposure to a variety of programs/products
- Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively to achieve the desired effect in a variety of communications settings and styles
- Ability to prepare and maintain confidential records and reports
- Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external members, use feedback for continuous improvement, and develop and maintain effective relationships
- Ability to prioritize tasks to use time efficiently and attend to a broad range of activities
- Ability to generate new and unique ideas as solutions to operational or member service issues, and develop non-traditional ways of doing business
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Have a proactive and positive attitude toward members, supervisors, co-workers, and the Bank
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with limited supervision, exercising own initiative and judgment
- Willingness to attend training seminars and meetings outside normal working hours
