SUMMARY: The Part-Time Senior Student Services Specialist role involves a dynamic mix of field-based work, office collaboration, and limited remote administrative tasks focused on supporting students as they prepare for adulthood. This position is scheduled on a part-time basis, approximately 25 hours per week, and is not benefits eligible. Work hours may vary based on student service needs, school schedules, authorized services, and business needs. During summer breaks, extended school breaks, scheduled school closures, or other periods when student services are suspended, unavailable, or not authorized, work may be reduced or suspended unless hours have been scheduled or approved based on business needs. This role supports students in building self-advocacy skills, exploring post-secondary education and career options, developing workplace readiness skills, and making informed decisions about their future.
Work Environment and Expectations:
This is a hybrid, part-time position involving three primary work settings, as assigned based on student services, authorized services, school schedules, and business needs:
- Fieldwork: Community-based client support, site visits, and assessments
- Office Locations: In-person team meetings, training, and collaboration.
- Limited Remote Work (Home Office): Client meetings, documentation, and communication.
Remote Work Expectations:
- Availability: Be online and responsive during assigned working hours when remote work is scheduled or approved.
- Communication: Maintain clear and proactive communication via email, and video calls. Regularly attend virtual meetings and team check-ins.
- Productivity: Deliver work on time and uphold the same standards of performance and accountability as in-office roles.
- Workspace: Have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace free from excessive distractions.
- Security: Follow company policies regarding data protection, device security, and confidentiality while working remotely.
- Collaboration: Be an active participant in team activities, project planning, and problem-solving discussions, leveraging digital tools effectively.
Summer Break and School Closure Layoff Notice:
During summer breaks, extended school breaks, scheduled school closures, or other periods when student services are suspended, unavailable, or not authorized, employees may be placed on temporary layoff unless work has been scheduled or approved based on business needs. Employees placed on temporary layoff are expected to return to work when school is back in session, student services resume, or business needs require services to restart. Work hours may be reduced or suspended during these periods unless hours have been scheduled or approved based on business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Note: Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Attend On-Campus Student Meetings as needed.
- Conduct scheduled meetings with students on campus and/or off campus as assigned.
- Coordinate with teachers and counselors to confirm student availability.
- Provide individualized support to students in creating a pathway to transitioning to adulthood, including setting goals and exploring post-secondary education and career options.

- Postsecondary Counseling
- Workplace Readiness Training
- Job Exploration Counseling
- Self-Advocacy Training
- Worksite Development
- Conduct door-to-door visits to local businesses to develop worksites for student employment.
- Build and maintain relationships with businesses to create inclusive employment opportunities for all students.
- Complete client payroll related tasks.
- Develop and approve Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and services, conduct case planning.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to students in their journey towards independence and adulthood.
- Facilitate workshops and activities focused on developing essential life skills and preparing students for the challenges of adulthood.
- Complete ACRE training within one year of starting with a first client in Supported Employment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education/Experience:
- A high school diploma/GED is required. A bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, child development or counseling is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred (Independent Living Services ILS, Employment, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Technician work, or Teaching is acceptable).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of the transition to adulthood and the challenges faced by young adults.
- Understanding of disabilities and their impact on independence and employment opportunities.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Ability to work under pressure and with individuals with high support needs.
- Effective prioritization, organization, and time management.
- Proficiency in various computer applications such as email, word processing, calendar management, basic data entry, and virtual meetings.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds).
- Ability to travel locally for fieldwork, meetings, and community events.
- Frequent use of computer, phone, and office tools.
- Clear and effective communication in diverse environments.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSURES:
- Must have and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
- Regular, predictable attendance during the assigned part-time schedule is required when work is scheduled or approved.
