Pet Cemetery Grounds Keeper in Trenton, New Jersey at Pet Meadow

About the Role:

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and hardworking Pet Cemetery Burial Grounds Keeper to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing burial sites, assisting with pet interments, maintaining the cemetery grounds, and helping provide a peaceful and respectful environment for families honoring their beloved pets. The ideal candidate is physically capable, detail-oriented, and understands the importance of treating every service with dignity and care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare burial sites by excavating and backfilling graves safely and accurately.

• Perform pet interments with professionalism, care, and respect.

• Set and remove memorial markers, flowers, and other commemorative items as needed.

• Operate and maintain cemetery equipment, including tractor and excavation equipment.

• Maintain cemetery grounds through trimming, landscaping, leaf removal, and snow removal (seasonally).

• Ensure burial areas, pathways, and common grounds remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.

• Assist with opening and closing graves according to scheduled services.

• Work closely with the Burial director to ensure services run smoothly.

• Assist with general maintenance projects, repairs, and other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in landscaping, ground maintenance, construction, excavation, or cemetery operations.

• Ability to operate landscaping and excavation equipment.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

• Compassionate, respectful demeanor when interacting with grieving families.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round.

• Comfortable working around excavation equipment and performing manual labor.
