Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Responds to the assigned regional office of the coroner/medical examiner (C/ME) as scheduled
- Complete all relevant information in iTransplant on C/ME referrals as well as add additional referrals when applicable.
- Complete pre-draw blood bags or appropriate C/ME notification documents on potential tissue donors.
- Interacts and communicates with C/ME staff to ensure donor information is complete and accurate.
- Verifies all NDN forms and donor information is accurate and complete.
- Ensure there are no outstanding donor transports.
- Attends the C/ME daily morning meeting to request C/ME permissions on potential donors, relay pre-exam recovery information to C/ME staff, relay information and updates regarding active organ donors under coroner jurisdiction and relay any NDN needs to make donation possible.
- Ensures daily consistent communication to Donation Development team, Donation Services team, NDN clinical teams, and C/ME teams.
- Completes physical assessments on potential donors, as needed, to include physical description of injuries and interpretation of injuries from postmortem radiographs.
- Maintains chain of custody, transport, log, and store coroner samples when requested from C/ME staff.
- Secures admission blood with various hospital labs on high potential organ donors.
- Comply with appropriate safety precautions.
- Other duties as assigned.
· Coordinates donor case logistics as they relate to external partners.
· Maintain all aspects of donor chain of custody at Donor Care Unit.
· Scans and uploads chain of custody forms.
· Assists in coordinating transportation to or from funeral home partners.
· Assists with maintaining and restocking partner inventory items.
· Assists in supporting and maintaining partnerships with assigned partners.
· Follows policies and procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from governing agencies regarding partnering organizations.
· Actively participates in meetings and required training.
· Maintains confidentiality related to donors, partner relations, and internal matters.
· Participates in quality improvement initiatives, policy updates, and other intradepartmental collaboratives.
· Maintains external partner relationships by learning and understanding organizational needs and delivering excellent customer service.
· Trouble shoots and creates solutions for any issues that may arise for active referrals.
· Utilizes critical thinking to help facilitate donation on cases with difficult logistics and time constraints.
· Reports to leadership on progress of assignments, cases, and partner updates.
· Participate in on call hours as assigned to navigate donor logistics.
· Compiles and verifies data for monthly goals, including all database reporting systems are up to date and accurate.
· Provides timely donation and referral data to partners.
· Ensures all partners are invited to NDN events and outreach opportunities.
· Participates in NDN community events.
· Serves as a preceptor and actively participates in the training and development of the department.?
· Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred); relevant work experience may be substituted for academic requirements
Experience: 2 years related experience in healthcare, funeral home, law enforcement, or forensic fields preferred.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office programs
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License
