Senior Director, Medical Excellence & Operations – Solid Biosciences

Solid Biosciences is a precision genetic medicine company focused on advancing a portfolio of gene therapy candidates targeting rare neuromuscular and cardiac diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne), Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), TNNT2-mediated dilated cardiomyopathy, BAG3-mediated dilated cardiomyopathy, and additional fatal, genetic cardiac diseases. We are seeking a The Senior Director, Medical Excellence & Operations will build and lead the operational backbone of Solid Biosciences’ Global Medical Affairs organization. This individual will establish the systems, processes, governance, metrics, technology platforms, and operational infrastructure needed to enable a high-performing, scalable Medical Affairs function.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, the role will serve as a strategic partner to Medical Affairs leadership and play a critical role in operationalizing the organization’s vision, ensuring excellence in execution, resource management, insight generation, and cross-functional integration.

Key Position Responsibilities

Medical Affairs Operations

  • Design and implement the Medical Affairs operating model, governance structure, and annual planning processes.
  • Develop scalable processes, SOPs, and best practices to support organizational growth.
  • Drive operational excellence across all Medical Affairs activities.

Strategic Planning & Analytics

  • Develop departmental dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Establish mechanisms to measure Medical Affairs impact and effectiveness.
  • Lead Medical Affairs annual planning, goal setting, and business reviews.
  • Translate medical insights and operational metrics into strategic recommendations.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage Medical Affairs budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee grant, sponsorship, congress, publication, and vendor budgets.
  • Develop tools and processes to track investments and outcomes.

Systems & Technology

  • Lead implementation and optimization of Medical Affairs technologies and platforms.
  • Partner with IT and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity.
  • Establish infrastructure for insight management, publication planning, field medical effectiveness, and medical information capabilities.

Medical Governance & Vendor Management

  • Support medical governance committees and cross-functional decision-making forums.
  • Manage Medical Affairs vendors and agency partnerships.
  • Establish performance metrics and oversight processes for external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in Medical Affairs Operations, Commercial Operations, Clinical Operations, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated experience building operational infrastructure in a growing biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization.
  • Strong analytics, project management, budgeting, and leadership skills.
  • Experience supporting global Medical Affairs organizations preferred.

Compensation

The base compensation range for this role is: $270,000.00 - $315,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an internal analysis utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short-term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward individual performance and align incentives to Solid’s long term company performance.
