  • This position is currently assigned to day shift
  • Future shift assignments may be required based on business needs
  • Participation in an on-call rotation is required

Position Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical, instrumentation, automation, and mechanical systems supporting our manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety.

Successful candidates will possess strong troubleshooting abilities, a commitment to safety, and experience working in industrial manufacturing environments.

What You'll DoElectrical Systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair 480V motor controls, motor starters, VFDs, and 120VAC control circuits
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment following company safety procedures and NFPA 70E requirements
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic equipment
Instrumentation & Controls
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC and Distributed Control System (DCS) equipment
  • Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation, including:
    • Flow transmitters
    • Level transmitters
    • Pressure transmitters
    • Temperature instrumentation
    • Analytical devices
  • Utilize HART communicators, RTD calibrators, loop calibrators, thermocouple calibrators, multimeters, and megohmmeters
  • Support process control system reliability and optimization
Mechanical & Reliability Maintenance
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, cooling, and electromechanical systems
  • Participate in root cause failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Recommend equipment and process improvements to increase reliability and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Utilize Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and other required safe work practices
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, company standards, and industry best practices
Inventory & Administrative Support
  • Assist with identifying and requisitioning critical spare parts
  • Support inventory management of electrical and instrumentation components
  • Utilize SAP or other maintenance management systems to document work activities
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, accredited apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training in electrical, instrumentation, industrial maintenance, or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting:
    • Electrical systems
    • Instrumentation systems
    • Pneumatic systems
    • Mechanical equipment
    • PLC-controlled equipment
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Experience with ladder logic troubleshooting
  • Experience using SAP maintenance software
  • Experience in food manufacturing, chemical processing, refining, or other process industries
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance activities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, maintenance personnel, contractors, and leadership

  • Safely observe and respond to equipment operating conditions and workplace hazards
  • Work in varying environmental conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing facility
Work Environment

This position supports a 24-hour manufacturing operation. Employees may work around:

  • Moving mechanical equipment
  • Elevated work areas
  • Industrial noise
  • Temperature variations
  • Dust, vibration, and process-related environmental conditions
  • Electrical and mechanical hazards

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
