Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for completing physical and administrative tasks necessary for the shipping and/or receiving or supplies, materials, and finished products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepares orders for shipment, verifying items against purchase order, adequately packing and labeling packages.
• Ships out-going materials by preparing appropriate documents using knowledge of shipping procedures.
• Prepares International Shipping Documents and communicates with Forwarding agents when applicable.
• Forwards shipping documentation and records for further processing.
• Loads and unloads supplies and equipment, verifying carton or pallet count. Inspects for visible damage, overages, and shortages. Reviews and retains packing lists.
• Maintains a safe work area by observing all safety policies and procedures and accurately storing packaging materials and supplies.
• Receives materials and records data as instructed.
• Documents all discrepancies on delivering carrier's copy and retaining copy of delivery tickets, and obtains driver's signature. Displays this information on packing lists.
• Expedites all shipment of items received to proper destination, requests service forms to ensure delivery, and compares purchase orders and packing lists assuring correct material received.
• Ensures cleanliness of dock.
• Examines contents and compare with records, such as invoices or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment
• Escorts unauthorized personnel out of dock area
• Reports visible/hidden damage, and overages or shortages to supervisor.
• Operates various material handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklift trucks, hoists, cranes, motorized or manual conveyors, and other equipment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Accredited High School Diploma or GED
• 2-4 years experience in a like environment highly preferred
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Good communication skills
• Basic Math skills necessary to count inventory and verify shipments.
• Manual dexterity and physical ability to stand, walk, and handle materials for prolonged periods of time.
• Forklift operation experience .
• Computer literate, must be familiar with computer systems including, but not limited to, MS Office programs, Fed Ex Ship Manager, UPS Worldship as well as business operating systems required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle and feel, as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
