Job Description
The BenePhilly Counselor provides direct client assistance to help individuals and families access public benefits and supportive services that promote housing stability and economic self-sufficiency. The Counselor conducts comprehensive benefits screenings, assists with completing applications and recertifications, provides follow-up for outcomes, and ensures accurate and timely data entry in required client management systems to meet funder and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
•Conduct intake assessments and eligibility screenings for public benefits, including but not limited to SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, LIHEAP, SSI/SSDI referrals, Homestead, Property Tax Rebate, and other local, state, and federal programs
•Assist clients with completing and submitting benefit applications and renewals.
•Provide in-person, phone, and virtual counseling services, including outreach services in assigned communities
•Prepare an action plan for the client on benefit requirements, timelines, and reporting obligations
•Daily Data Collection & Entry on a timely basis.
Requirements:•Minimum of one year of experience in benefit applications.
•Fluency in English and Spanish.
•Familiarity with social service networks in Philadelphia.
•Ability to maintain a caseload of clients, including prompt and accurate maintenance of clients’ electronic file documentation with attention to detail and confidentiality.
•Have excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and presentation skills.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office programs.
•Great organization skills and time management.
•Travel to attend meetings and training as required by the grantor.
•Other duties may be assigned.
