Overview
The Digital Enterprise (DE) Design Disclosure Engineer will provide support to existing Programs with a focus on enhancing existing processes. This includes both managing and working on initiatives to further develop and enhance Electric Boats capability to deliver design disclosure information internally to all downstream consumers as well as externally to SUPSHIP and NAVSEA.
The Design Disclosure Engineer would support:
- Assist the Technical Authority (TA) Core Team in working on initiatives brought from across the business to enhance the Design Disclosure development and delivery process.
- Drive efficiency into the Design Disclosure value stream by developing and tracking tool updates/testing, processes/procedures and training.
- Assist in running the TA Core Team to help provide resolutions to issues raised by the Design Disclosure Discipline leads as well as downstream functional areas.
- Assisting with identifying areas of improvement by evaluating Metrics for Design Disclosure Task progress and ITCR development.
- Drive efficiency into Design Disclosure value stream based on assessments of procedure comments, production support tickets, continuous process improvement database, and requested process changes from various areas of the business.
- Communicate and provide training when applicable to updated processes and software changes.
- Supporting & coordinating business case development for new Design Disclosure Digital Enterprise tasking improvements.
- Provide recommendations and insight to future program Design Disclosure development and processes based on lessons learned from previous Programs and implemented improvements.
- Investigate and test upcoming software and/or process changes related to upgrading software systems. Including providing recommendations based on investigations to various areas of the business.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this position the applicant should have:
- High level working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter and NX
- Facilitation Skills: To lead brainstorming sessions, team meetings, and cross discipline discussions on different Design Disclosure initiatives
- Project Management Skills: Managing to established dates and schedules, as well as estimating and scheduling new task development
- Ability to develop effective relationships
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of Design Disclosure Digital Enterprise (DE) processes & tools
- Knowledge of the Design Disclosure development process from concept through disclosure delivery
- Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics
- Knowledge of the Lean improvement tools such as SIPOC and process mapping
- Background with implementing improvements into software systems and procedures
- Demonstrated Project Management Skills
- Innovative and persistent personality
- Demonstrated Facilitation Skills
Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Software, Industrial, Systems, Chemical, Process Improvement or Computer Engineering
- 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
Preferred:
- Experience in Teamcenter and/or NX applications
- Experience in CATIA software
- Requirements development experience
