J. Banicki Construction is looking for an experienced Roadway Superintendent to join our team in Flagstaff, Arizona. This position is for someone who knows roadway construction from the ground up and can effectively lead crews, subcontractors, and daily field operations.
We are specifically looking for strong hands-on experience with grading, paving, site concrete, and general underground utilities on roadway and heavy civil projects.

What You'll Do
- Manage day-to-day field operations for roadway and heavy civil projects.
- Lead crews and subcontractors performing grading, subgrade preparation, paving, site concrete, excavation, and utility work.
- Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and production to keep projects on schedule.
- Read and understand plans, specifications, project schedules, and DOT requirements.
- Develop and manage three-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries.
- Track daily production, quantities, employee hours, and job progress.
- Work closely with Project Managers and project teams to identify and resolve field issues.
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure work meets project specifications and construction schedules.
Position Requirements
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of roadway/highway or heavy civil construction experience as a superintendent and significant experience in the industry.
- Strong experience with grading, paving, site concrete, and general utilities.
- Experience supervising heavy equipment crews including graders, excavators, loaders, backhoes, and similar equipment.
- Experience with DOT, municipal, or other large roadway projects.
- Strong understanding of roadway sequencing, production, scheduling, and coordination.
- Ability to read plans and specifications and effectively lead crews and subcontractors.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to take ownership of the work in the field.
