Role Purpose

The Traveling Flooring Apprentice will support large-scale commercial flooring installations. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in the commercial flooring industry, with clear opportunities for advancement into a supervisor position. The apprentice will work alongside experienced crews, assist with jobsite operations, material handling, and installation support, while learning industry best practices and safety standards.

This is a traveling position requiring nationwide travel. Flooring Apprentices may be away from home for up to two to three weeks at a time and may travel up to 40 weeks per year, depending on project needs. Travel is within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist with large commercial tile and flooring installations.
• Pick up, deliver, and stage materials for job sites.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklifts and LULL telehandlers; training is provided if needed.
• Manage and maintain jobsite inventory, tools, and materials.
• Support repairs, punch list work, and final touch-ups.
• Move, stage, and organize materials to maintain an efficient jobsite workflow.
• Assist with jobsite cleanliness and safety compliance.
• Travel nationwide and work flexible schedules based on project needs, including extended periods away from home.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous construction, warehouse, flooring, or other hands-on work experience is preferred but not required.
• Willingness and ability to learn commercial flooring installation methods, materials, tools, and safety practices.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts, LULL telehandlers, and other jobsite equipment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and moving materials, bending, kneeling, standing, and working for extended periods.
• Ability and willingness to travel nationwide for up to two to three weeks at a time and up to 40 weeks per year, depending on project needs.
• Reliable transportation, consistent attendance, and the ability to arrive at assigned jobsites on time.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
• Commitment to safety, quality, professionalism, and continued skill development.
