Overview
The Director of Security will lead security operations across client locations, ensuring reliable service, effective risk management, and strong client relationships. This leader will oversee security teams, establish operational standards, manage financial performance, and support new account launches and business growth.
The ideal candidate brings experience managing contracted security services, developing leaders, and building consistent processes across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily security operations across assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with client requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Lead, coach, and develop security managers, supervisors, and officers.
- Establish and maintain post orders, standard operating procedures, emergency response plans, and service standards.
- Build strong client relationships, resolve concerns, and regularly evaluate service performance.
- Conduct site assessments and recommend improvements to staffing, training, equipment, and security procedures.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, attendance, and overtime to maintain coverage and control labor costs.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and retention.
- Ensure officers maintain required licenses, certifications, and training.
- Direct incident response, oversee investigations, and ensure timely reporting and corrective action.
- Manage account budgets and monitor labor expenses, profitability, and overall financial performance.
- Track operational metrics and report on service quality, staffing, incidents, and financial results.
- Lead new account transitions and start-ups, coordinating staffing, training, equipment, and client communication.
- Support business development through site visits, operational planning, proposals, and client presentations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other external partners as needed.
- Remain available on call at all times, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to promptly respond to security incidents, emergencies, and urgent operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- At least seven years of progressive security operations experience, including three years leading managers or multiple client locations.
- Experience in contract security, including account management, staffing, scheduling, and client relations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control labor costs, and improve operational performance.
- Strong knowledge of security procedures, incident management, emergency response, and risk assessment.
- Experience developing operating procedures, post orders, and employee training programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, handle confidential information, and respond effectively to urgent situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and security workforce management or reporting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain licenses or credentials required for the position.
Work Requirements:
- Ability to travel to client locations and support account transitions as needed.
- Must be available on call at all times and able to respond promptly, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking and standing for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug screen.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
