Job Description

Baker Engineering, LLC’s (Baker) core business centers around the design and development of high-tech, high-performance technologies for a variety of applications, from custom military and commercial engines, to engine components, to the production of parts and mechanical assemblies for other industries. Baker is a division of Waséyabek Development Company, LLC that is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a Federally recognized Indian Tribe.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Test Technician is responsible for setup, assembly, and testing of engines, transmissions, and electric vehicle powertrain components and vehicles.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Assemble engines and powerpacks in preparation for test activities.Install and setup engines and powerpacks on dynamometerSetup, install and calibrate data acquisition system and instrumentationPerform engine and powerpack testing according to test plans provided including test cell setup, maintenance, instrumentation, and diagnostics.Troubleshoot test article or instrumentation issues as neededBuild, upgrade, and maintain test facilities including dynamometers, test stands, and test cells.Provide documentation as requested for engine and powerpack build and test activities.Provide feedback on Baker products and services.Other duties as requested by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Working knowledge of gas and diesel engine operation.Engine dynamometer setup, instrumentation and testing experience.Hands-on, mechanical aptitude.Minimum 5 years of experience in related field.Familiarity with automotive electrical systems.Must be able to support the Baker culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service.Ability to communicate and collaborate with team members.Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search.US Citizen / ITAR compliant.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with engine tuning.Experience with electrical system testing, instrumentation, and prototype vehicle development.Hands-on experience with the fabrication, installation, and integration of wiring harnesses, electrical and electromechanical componentsFamiliarity with high voltage automotive electrical systems.

Climate controlled shop

Remote/temporary field conditions (occasional)

TRAVEL

This position may require travel up to 10% of the time

POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time, hourly position
