P & L Operator in Dowagiac, Michigan at The Mennel Milling Company

Schedule: Full-Time, Shift Assigned (Overtime as Required)

As a P&L Operator, you'll play an essential role in supporting our food safety programs and ensuring the efficient processing, packaging, shipping, receiving, and transfer of products while maintaining a clean, safe, and pest-free facility.

As a P&L Operator, you'll help ensure the safe and efficient movement of products throughout the facility while supporting sanitation, maintenance, and food safety initiatives that keep operations running smoothly.

• Following all food safety, quality, and personal safety regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, and company sanitation standards.
• Maintaining the department and facility in an audit-ready condition.
• Completing general sanitation tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, washing, and facility clean-up.
• Performing preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs, including packer changeovers and inspections of forklifts and yard tractors.
• Transferring, packing, loading, and unloading flour and feed products using required equipment.
• Loading bulk and bagged flour onto trucks and railcars.
• Operating forklifts safely and efficiently on a daily basis.
• Completing required production, shipping, and quality documentation accurately.
• Supporting shipping and receiving activities for inbound and outbound materials.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in flour milling, food processing, manufacturing, or a related industry preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Previous truck driving experience and CDL preferred.
• Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and perform job duties while wearing a respirator.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
• Ability to use sound judgment and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

• Regular standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds or more on occasion.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, dust, heat, humidity, cold temperatures, heights, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions.
• Hearing protection is required in designated work areas.
• Regular exposure to common wheat allergens.
