Job Description
The Area Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful execution of electrical construction activities across assigned projects and locations. This position provides leadership and oversight of field operations, ensuring projects are properly staffed, scheduled, coordinated, and completed in accordance with project specifications, applicable electrical codes, client requirements, and Taurus Industrial Group standards.
The Area Construction Manager works closely with project management, engineering, operations, HSE, quality, clients, subcontractors, and field supervision to coordinate electrical construction activities from project planning and mobilization through commissioning and closeout. This position is responsible for monitoring project performance, resolving field issues, managing resources, and supporting multiple projects as operational needs require.
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in industrial electrical construction, including supervisory or construction management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing electrical construction projects in industrial environments such as petrochemical, refining, power generation, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, construction methods, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, equipment layouts, and construction documents.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience managing field labor, subcontractors, schedules, productivity, and project costs.
- Ability to travel to project locations and work in active industrial environments as required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license or equivalent electrical trade experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects or project locations simultaneously.
- Experience with electrical construction involving substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, power distribution, instrumentation and controls, grounding, cable systems, and related equipment.
- Experience with commissioning, startup, outages, turnarounds, and brownfield construction.
- PMP, CCM, or other applicable construction/project management certification.
- Experience with construction scheduling, estimating, cost controls, and project management software.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical construction practices, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Understanding of electrical power distribution systems and associated construction requirements.
- Ability to effectively plan manpower, equipment, materials, and other project resources.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, productivity, cost control, and project execution.
- Ability to identify potential construction conflicts and coordinate solutions with engineering and project teams.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, mentor, and develop field supervisors and craft personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced industrial environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with clients, employees, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

- Provide overall leadership and direction for electrical construction activities within the assigned area.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee electrical construction projects from preconstruction and mobilization through completion, commissioning, and closeout.
- Coordinate manpower requirements and assist with the assignment and deployment of electrical supervision and craft personnel across projects.
- Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, estimates, and other construction documents to support effective field execution.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, client requirements, and Company quality standards.
- Monitor project schedules, manpower utilization, productivity, costs, and overall performance.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Engineering, HSE, Quality, and other departments to identify and resolve project issues.
- Provide leadership and support to field supervisors, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and workforce development.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades to ensure construction activities are properly sequenced and executed.
- Participate in project planning, constructability reviews, estimating, scheduling, and resource planning as required.
- Identify potential project risks, delays, scope changes, and cost impacts and communicate concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure required materials, equipment, tools, and resources are available to support project schedules.
- Support change management by identifying and documenting changes in scope, field conditions, and additional work.
- Conduct regular site visits and field inspections to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and project progress.
- Promote and enforce Company HSE policies, procedures, and client-specific safety requirements.
- Support testing, commissioning, startup, turnover, punch-list completion, and project closeout activities.
- Maintain effective communication with Company leadership regarding project status, staffing requirements, operational challenges, and upcoming work.
- Assist with the development and implementation of standardized electrical construction practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties and support additional projects, disciplines, or operational needs as assigned based on business and project requirements.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout active industrial construction sites.
- Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain, gravel, concrete, scaffolding access areas, and other industrial surfaces.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as required to access and inspect electrical construction work areas.
- Ability to work at various elevations and around energized or operating industrial equipment when properly authorized and protected.
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Ability to visually inspect electrical installations, drawings, materials, equipment, and completed work.
- Ability to communicate effectively in environments with moderate to elevated noise levels.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to perform administrative and computer-based work associated with project planning, documentation, reporting, scheduling, and communication.
This position operates in both office and active industrial construction environments, including petrochemical facilities, refineries, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants, substations, and other industrial project locations. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, elevated noise levels, moving equipment, electrical hazards, heights, dust, fumes, and other conditions commonly associated with industrial construction.
Travel between project locations is required and may include overnight or extended travel depending on project and operational needs. Work schedules may include extended hours, weekends, outages, and turnaround schedules as required to support project execution.
