JR Estimator- Heavy Civil Construction in San Antonio, Texas at Sterling Construction Company, Inc.

Texas Sterling Construction is looking for a Junior Estimator to join our team in San Antonio, TX. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their construction career who wants to build their experience in heavy civil estimating, quantity takeoffs, CAD, and BIM modeling.

The Junior Estimator will work closely with our estimating team and assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive bids for heavy civil construction projects. This position will be heavily involved in quantity takeoffs and estimating, while also providing CAD drafting and BIM modeling support.

We are looking for someone who has a basic understanding of construction and estimating and wants to continue developing their skills with the long-term goal of growing into a more senior estimating role.

What You'll Do

1. Assist estimators with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and bid submissions
2. Review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and completeness
3. Assist in assembling and cross-checking bidding documents
4. Provide CAD drafting, BIM modeling, and takeoff support
5. Prepare site plans, grading, elevations, feature lines, and other construction-related drawings
6. Create and maintain SketchUp and Revit models
7. Prepare graphics and supporting materials for estimating meetings and presentations
8. Work with estimators and project teams to complete assigned estimating and drafting tasks
9. Help ensure drawings and documents meet company standards and bid deadlines

What We're Looking For

1. Approximately 2 years of experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar software preferred
2. Basic understanding of construction plans, design, and engineering principles
3. Strong math and measurement skills
4. Experience or interest in quantity takeoffs and construction estimating
5. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
6. Dependable with a strong work ethic
7. Desire to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction estimating
