Prep Team Member

We’re looking for a dependable and hardworking Prep Team Member to help keep our Potbelly shop ready for a successful day. This role focuses primarily on preparing fresh ingredients, portioning food, stocking the line, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, stays organized, and takes pride in preparing food correctly and consistently.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare meats, vegetables, toppings, and other ingredients according to Potbelly standards
• Portion and label food accurately
• Stock and organize the prep area, walk-in cooler, and sandwich line
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and prep area
• Wash dishes and equipment as needed
• Receive and properly store deliveries
• Monitor product levels and communicate prep needs to the manager
• Assist the team with other shop duties when needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Dependable and punctual
• Able to work efficiently and stay organized
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and commitment to food quality
• Able to follow recipes, portioning guidelines, and food-safety procedures
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 30–40 pounds
• Restaurant or food-prep experience is helpful, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person

Schedule:
Morning and daytime availability is preferred. Weekend availability may be required.

About the Role

A Potbelly Team Member helps bring the joy back to lunch. You'll create a great experience at our Potbelly Sandwich Shop by delivering fast, friendly service and consistently serving high-quality food in a clean, welcoming environment.

What You'll Do

• Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate customer service
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, and other menu items to Potbelly standards
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards
• Work across multiple stations (prep, register, food line, etc.)
• Restock supplies and keep the shop organized
• Handle cash transactions and customer orders
• Resolve customer concerns with professionalism

Basic Qualifications

• You can handle potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
• You can handle the ambient heat of the kitchen
• You're at least 15 years old
• You're able to stand/walk for 4-6 hours or as needed
• You're able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds occasionally
