Summary

Under the supervision of the department director and assistant director, instructs and supervises clients. Welcomes members and visitors to the center. Performs front desk functions and assists members. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of Fitness Center equipment providing for a clean and safe environment for members. Performs center clerical and support duties.

Responsibilities

  1. Communicates positively and respectfully to audience (co-workers, patients, physicians, and others).
  2. Performs required tasks without prompting and adjusts appropriately to situations.
  3. Adheres to the attendance policy.
  4. Follows District and Department Policies.
  5. Attends required meetings and in-services.
  6. Participates in Hospital District Safety Program and QA/PI Programs.
  7. Follows Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  8. Uses time and resources wisely.
  9. Maintains HIPAA, keeping patient and hospital confidentiality.
  10. Maintains adequate supplies of items needed to perform job, orders, or reports low items to supervisor.
  11. Practices proper phone etiquette, identifying self and department.
  12. Reports adverse events regarding patients, guests, members, or self to supervisor immediately.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  1. Supervises: Exercise Specialist, Fitness Coordinator

Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Answer each call promptly and courteously.
  2. Routes all incoming calls to the requested party.
  3. Provides clearly written messages to all specified employees when a call can’t be completed.
  4. Follows opening and closing procedures.
  5. Gives tours to new and prospective members and initiates sign up procedures.
  6. Gives full orientations of facility and each piece of equipment to new members.
  7. Stays familiar with all center activities and events.
  8. Maintains and accurately performs client billing, money, and receipt accounting.

Greets and assists members and visitors

  1. Acknowledge members and visitors’ presence and determine the assistance needed.
  2. Routes visitor to appropriate place or person.
  3. Answers questions concerning membership information.
  4. Performs floor supervision, answers any questions, and socializes with members.

Provides support to members

  1. Assist members with equipment if needed.
  2. Obtains needed supplies for members.
  3. Monitor members use of equipment in compliance with operation and policies of the fitness center and corrects improper use.
  4. Observe other members and activities simultaneously.
  5. Explains enforces and abides by member rules and policies.

Cleans and maintains equipment and monitors the overall facility

  1. Maintains equipment, including in-depth cleaning, organization, and neatness.
  2. Maintains the facility as an orderly and hazard-free environment.
  3. Observes pool and hot tub use two times each hour and checks appropriate locker room each hour.
  4. Checks the pool and hot tub temperatures and chemical readings during shift.
  5. Always maintains facility security.

Performs Fitness Center clerical and support duties

  1. Coordinates daily member sign in.
  2. Instructs exercise classes or other variations of classes as qualified.
  3. Coordinates the preparation of the fitness center daily financial and statistical reports and cash drawer accounting.
  4. Maintains all center supplies at an adequate level.
  5. Coordinates members follow ups.
  6. Collects weekly pool and hot tub lab samples, and performs shock treatment, backwash, sweeping and related duties.
Requirements:

Professional Education Requirements

  1. High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  2. Professional certification preferred (American College of Sports Medicine)
  3. BLS required.
  4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Public relation skills.
  6. Previous public relations experience.
  7. Experience with exercise and fitness preferred.
