Marketing and Communications Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager based in Canada.

This role provides strategic leadership across marketing, communications, branding, digital engagement, and public awareness initiatives for a mission-driven organization. You’ll lead the development and execution of an organization-wide communications strategy that supports advocacy goals, strategic priorities, and public engagement. As a subject matter expert, you’ll advise senior leadership and collaborate with teams across the organization to translate priorities into compelling, culturally grounded communications. You’ll oversee integrated campaigns, storytelling, social media, digital content, and brand consistency across multiple audiences and channels. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership, team management, relationship building, and performance evaluation. It offers an opportunity to strengthen organizational visibility and contribute to positive change for Indigenous women, girls, families, and communities across Ontario.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of an integrated organization-wide Marketing and Communications Strategy aligned with organizational priorities, advocacy objectives, and public awareness goals.
  • Provide strategic marketing and communications advice to executive leadership and departments, helping translate organizational priorities into effective public-facing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Lead and support the marketing and communications team, establishing priorities, coordinating workflows, managing deliverables, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Oversee integrated marketing campaigns, storytelling initiatives, public awareness activities, promotional materials, digital communications, and social media programs.
  • Develop clear, compelling, and culturally grounded messaging and content across digital, print, social media, and broadcast channels while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Manage and strengthen digital engagement initiatives, social media channels, content calendars, and audience communications to increase visibility and meaningful engagement.
  • Protect and enhance the organization’s public profile and reputation through consistent messaging, strategic communications, relationship building, and proactive collaboration.
  • Partner with internal program teams and stakeholders to develop communications approaches that effectively reflect organizational priorities and diverse audience needs.
  • Coordinate multiple campaigns and communications projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, quality standards, budgets, and strategic objectives are met.
  • Use audience insights, performance data, and evaluation findings to assess campaign effectiveness and continuously improve marketing and communications activities.
  • Ensure communications are respectful, culturally informed, and appropriate for Indigenous communities, community members, government representatives, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about relevant social issues, marketing trends, digital engagement practices, and communications approaches affecting Indigenous women, families, and communities.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 3–5 years of management experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, including experience supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, executing, monitoring, and evaluating integrated organization-wide communications or marketing strategies.
  • Strong experience coordinating marketing and communications campaigns, promotional initiatives, public awareness activities, and brand communications.
  • Excellent ability to develop compelling messaging and marketing content across digital, print, social media, and broadcast platforms.
  • Hands-on experience managing social media channels, digital content, engagement campaigns, and content management systems.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple campaigns, stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to supervise staff, coordinate workflows, establish priorities, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong independent judgment, time management, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications strategy, branding, campaign development, public awareness, and audience engagement.
  • Understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures, and culturally safe communications practices.
  • Awareness of social issues affecting Indigenous women and families and the ability to communicate respectfully within these contexts.
  • Understanding of communications and marketing strategies for diverse audiences, including community members, government officials, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit or community-based environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit marketing and communications environments and funder expectations is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and relevant digital marketing, communications, social media, and content management tools.
