Job Description
About the Role:
Brockton Hospital, a vibrant community teaching hospital, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Medical Education (DME) to lead and oversee the institution’s medical education programs. The DME plays a key leadership role in promoting academic excellence, coordinating continuing medical education (CME), and enhancing the learning environment for both staff and visiting learners.
This individual will serve as a liaison between the hospital and its sponsoring institutions, coordinate institutional academic activities, and ensure the hospital's continued compliance with ACCME accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educational Program Oversight:
- Plan, develop, and implement educational activities for clinical staff, including Grand Rounds and Schwartz Rounds.
- Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of educational initiatives based on participant feedback and institutional goals.
- Accreditation Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with ACCME guidelines to maintain the hospital’s CME accreditation.
- Oversee documentation, reporting, and quality improvement processes related to continuing education.
- Transitional Year Residency:

- Serving as APD for the Transitional Year Residency.
- Support the Program Director administratively.
- Participation in noon lectures and morning report.
- Participation in resident recruitment and interviewing.
- Interdepartmental Coordination:
- Collaborate with department chairs, residency program directors, and other educators to align educational efforts across the institution.
- Participate in education-related committees and initiatives to promote academic integration.
- External Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for sponsoring institutions regarding visiting resident rotators and educational agreements.
- Negotiate rotation schedules, supervision structures, and educational objectives with external partners.
- Provide oversight of medical student rotations.
- Leadership & Administration:
- Manage the medical education office, including budgets, staff, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of academic curiosity, professional development, and continuous learning throughout the hospital.
- Chairing CME committee, participation in various quality committees and RCAs to monitor for potential educational opportunities for the medical staff.

Qualifications: - MD or DO degree with active, unrestricted medical license in [Insert State].
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in medical education leadership or academic administration.
- Familiarity with ACCME accreditation standards and CME program management.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication abilities.
