Job Description
The incumbent manages and directs the daily Mess Attendant Services to provide quality customer service, and maintains that sanitary and food safety contitions are met/exceeded. Oversees the dining services operations of a medium to large volume Mess Hall and ensures Contract Statement Of Work (SOW) requirements are met.. Incumbent will manage a team of mess hall attendants and be responsible for the overall service in the main dining room as well as special functions.
Major Duties:
• Maintains positive client and customer relations addressing complaints in a service-oriented manner.
• Works with Mess Hall General Manager to deliver high quality Mess Attendant Services.
• Creates a positive work environment thru coaching, correcting and providing constructive feedback to employees.
• Ensures safe working environment requirements are met.
• Ensures that cleanliness and sanitation of service areas and storage facilities are maintained at all times.
• Monitors internal quality assurance and food safety audit processes to ensure that HACCP and contract quality requirements are met.
• Assists in the responsibility for all food service-related activities and is primarily involved in meal services in a seated dining room setting, including customer satisfaction, quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all facility-related activities.
• Prepares and manages labor reports and other required contractural deliverables including payroll and HR related issues.
• Has ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills and a high level of customer service.
• Can demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of food service supervisory/management experience.
• Experience in fast paced food services and/or Mess Hall related operations for restaurants, hotels, education, military, health care related food service operations.
• Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
• ServSafe Certification is required to maintain Dining Manager status.
• Ability to commute/travel to mulitple Dining Halls.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance.
