Senior Credit Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Credit Analyst based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support a growing lending platform by combining financial analysis, risk assessment, and process optimization.
The Senior Credit Analyst will play a key part in evaluating commercial loan opportunities and strengthening credit decision-making processes.
Working closely with credit, finance, capital markets, and risk teams, this position helps ensure accurate reporting and effective portfolio management.
The ideal candidate brings strong underwriting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex financial data.
You will contribute to improving lending strategies, identifying risks, and building scalable credit processes in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Credit Analyst will support credit operations by analyzing lending opportunities, improving processes, and helping maintain a healthy loan portfolio through strong risk management practices.

  • Review commercial loan applications and provide detailed credit analysis to support approval or decline decisions.
  • Analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key financial metrics.
  • Assess borrower performance, identify potential risks, and proactively support efforts to prevent delinquencies and defaults.
  • Apply knowledge of lending products, including asset-based loans, term loans, factoring facilities, merchant cash advances, credit cards, and other commercial financing solutions.
  • Identify operational gaps within credit processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with risk operations teams to manage payment failures, investigate escalations, and improve portfolio outcomes.
  • Collaborate with finance, capital markets, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting for borrowing facilities.
  • Conduct periodic underwriting audits to verify compliance with internal credit policies and procedures.
  • Support credit leadership with strategic initiatives, process improvements, and additional analytical projects as needed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer industries, including consumer packaged goods (CPG), to inform lending decisions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has experience in commercial credit underwriting, strong financial analysis capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently in a dynamic environment.

  • 3+ years of commercial underwriting experience within a bank, financial institution, or fintech company.
  • Experience in fintech lending environments is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment, and lending practices.
  • Experience underwriting or managing commercial loan products such as asset-based loans, term loans, factoring facilities, merchant cash advances, or similar products.
  • Prior portfolio management, collections, or workout experience is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, and SQL.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage competing responsibilities.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to independently lead projects and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations, assess risks, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain financial insights and recommendations.
