As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will lead the evolution of quality engineering practices by building scalable automation frameworks, improving testing strategies, and ensuring reliability across distributed payment systems. You will work closely with engineering teams to identify risks, strengthen development processes, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Collaborate on test framework architecture by enhancing automation standards, improving existing frameworks, and establishing scalable testing practices across engineering teams.
- Define and execute load and performance testing strategies, including scenario design, tooling selection, baseline measurement, and performance analysis.
- Build and maintain test harnesses for asynchronous and event-driven workflows, validating messaging systems, distributed processes, retries, and data consistency.
- Develop strategies for testing complex financial operations, including idempotency, failure handling, retry mechanisms, and distributed service interactions.
- Integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, improving automation reliability, execution efficiency, and defect detection capabilities.
- Own API and contract testing strategies to ensure reliable integrations between backend services.
- Establish quality observability through metrics, reporting dashboards, coverage analysis, and regression tracking.
- Partner with engineering leaders to incorporate quality considerations into system architecture and technical decisions.
- Promote AI-assisted testing practices using modern engineering tools to improve test creation, analysis, and troubleshooting efficiency.
- Mentor QA engineers and contribute to building stronger software engineering and testing capabilities within the team.
- Identify recurring quality challenges and drive engineering solutions that improve product reliability beyond individual test cases.
The ideal candidate is an experienced test engineering professional with strong software development skills, expertise in automation, and the ability to influence engineering practices at scale. You should be comfortable working with distributed systems, cloud technologies, and modern development methodologies.
- 8+ years of professional experience in software testing, test engineering, or software development roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong programming skills in Node.js with the ability to build automation frameworks, reusable libraries, and testing tools.
- Deep hands-on experience with Playwright, including framework design, architecture decisions, and optimization.
- Expertise in API testing, including REST services, contract testing, schema validation, and automation tooling.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD quality integrations, including pipeline configuration, parallel execution, and reliability improvements.
- Strong understanding of distributed system architectures and the ability to translate technical concepts into effective test strategies.
- Experience testing asynchronous, event-driven systems, including messaging workflows, eventual consistency, retries, and failure scenarios.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as SQS, EventBridge, and Lambda for designing and validating cloud-based workflows.
- Proven experience creating and managing load and performance testing programs using tools such as k6, JMeter, Artillery, or similar.
- Experience with test management tools such as Jira, XRay, Zephyr, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts, including Terraform, is a plus.
- Experience mentoring engineers or QA professionals and promoting engineering best practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present quality risks and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
- Regular experience using AI coding assistants such as Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar tools.
